Clegg angers Lib Dem left with tax cut move

Nick Clegg on Sunday urged the Liberal Democrats to adopt cuts to public expenditure and taxation in a move that has angered the party left and exposed him to claims that he is aping a Conservative agenda.

The Liberal Democrat leader strongly denies the charge of being “Cameron-lite”, arguing that his plans to shrink the size of the state would help the poor while Tory instincts favour the rich.
