Foreign Office accused over Iraq cover up

The Foreign Office was accused on Wednesday night of attempting to cover up allegations by a senior government lawyer that Lord Goldsmith, the attorney-general, changed his mind over the legality of the Iraq war.

Responding to a freedom of information request for a resignation letter written by Elizabeth Wilmhurst, a Foreign Office lawyer who quit because of the war, the government excised a section alleging the attorney-general had changed his view twice.
