Voith, one of Germany's largest privately-held industrial groups, is interested in buying Airbus' German factories that are up for sale.

The strong interest from the southern German company, a world leader in paper machinery and hydroelectric power, brings a strong local interest to other rumoured bidders for the factories such as Spirit Aero-Systems, which was formed from part of the manufacturing operations of Airbus' US rival Boeing.
