Bond and loan volumes slump

Bond and loan volumes this year crashed to lows last seen in 2000 – at the height of the dotcom meltdown – in one of the most turbulent periods for the debt markets in decades.

Bond volumes slumped 29 per cent to $4,330bn in 2008, while syndicated loan volumes fell 44 per cent to $2,740bn, according to Dealogic.
