Traction for Detroit’s Big Three

Detroit has always been able to pull powerful levers in Washington to make its voice heard.

The arrival of a new administration and changes in Congress could strengthen its clout in some ways, but weaken it in others. As some of the biggest US employers, the three Detroit carmakers – General Motors, Ford and Chrysler – have little trouble reaching into the highest echelons of government.
