COMPANIES Total, the French energy group, has abandoned its attempt to take over UTS Energy, the Canadian company with an asset in Alberta’s oil sands.
Two weeks ago Total raised by more than a third its hostile bid against the Calgary-based company, offering shareholders C$830m ($679m), or C$1.75 a share.
