Cudillero, on Spain’s Asturian coast, is about as far from the madding crowds of the Mediterranean beach resorts as you can get. A picturesque cove whose inhabitants once earned a living from fishing, these days it draws mainly local visitors and other Spanish tourists seeking to escape the baking temperatures of the interior during the holiday months of July and August.
A cottage industry has been built around the local cider and dairy products, while the myriad restaurants flanking the main square are said to serve the finest seafood in Spain.
