Hedge funds’ $400bn withdrawals hit

Investors pulled 20 per cent of their money from hedge funds last year while industry assets shrank by $782bn to $1,210bn, according to research suggesting worse withdrawals than had been estimated.

Hennessee Group, a New York hedge fund consultant and index compiler, said investors pulled a net $399bn last year, the worst on record, as the industry produced its worst results yet.
