Corporate information technology managers are coming under increasing pressure to help boost their companies' business results, according to a study that was published yesterday by Gartner, the computer industry research group.

Gartner's survey of 1,400 chief information officers found that companies were increasingly turning to IT departments to boost growth by developing systems that help improve interactions with customers.
