Wall Street bankers toast Obama’s victory

There was something unusual in the outbursts of spontaneous emotion around New York after Barack Obama’s victory: some of the excited people who found themselves in the arms of strangers were bankers.

The elation was not confined to the junior members of the city’s most important industry. In the corner offices of the Manhattan skyscrapers that house the world’s largest financial groups, several executives raised a glass to the president-elect.
