Numis, the smallcap stockbroker with ambitious plans for organic growth, is trolling larger rivals for new hires, but its talks with Bear Stearns employees are not expected to produce a mass defection.

Numis had been targeting as many as 25 Bear staff, but some are now negotiating to go to other brokers, including Blue Oar.
