Japan’s business confidence slumps

Business confidence in Japan has slumped to its lowest level in more than two years as concerns rose about a higher yen and global credit market turmoil.

The Bank of Japan’s closely watched quarterly Tankan survey on Friday showed manufacturers’ sentiment fell in December to its weakest point since October 2005.
