North America: Wariness as sector finds new rhythm

The North American steel industry is hitting all the right notes after returning to profitability in 2005, the first time in a six-year period marked by bankruptcies, consolidation and restructuring.

However, the sector remains gripped by worries that rising imports could undo the efficiencies created by greater investment and capacity discipline which have helped producers push through a series of price rises in the first half of the year.
