Babcock, the engineering support services company, expects pressures on defence budgets round the world to accelerate its international expansion as governments look towards outsourcing to reduce costs.

“Now we are seeing some movement overseas in regions that were previously a bit resistant,” said Peter Rogers, chief executive. “I can see more rapid growth over the next five years.”
