Nokia cancels Japan connection

Nokia yesterday announced it would stop making mobile phones for the Japanese market. The world's largest handset maker said it had concluded that its investment in mobiles tailored for the Japanese market was "no longer sustainable".

Nokia started selling mobiles in Japan in 1994, but its market share is about 1 per cent.
