Gen Myers dismisses criticism of Rumsfeld

General Richard Myers, the former chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff, on Sunday dismissed suggestions that Donald Rumsfeld, secretary of defence, had intimidated the country’s military leadership into decisions they opposed over the war in Iraq.

“We gave him our best military advice and I think that’s what we’re obligated to do,” Gen Myers said on “This Week” on ABC. “If we don’t do that, we should be shot.”
