Who knew what, and when? The questions continue to hang over Bank of America’s takeover of Merrill Lynch.

Already, the revelation of a $15.3bn loss by Merrill Lynch during the fourth quarter has cost John Thain his position at the bank. The losses forced BofA to seek billions of dollars from the US government.
