Brussels to keep watchful eye on Vista

The launch of Vista has been followed with keen interest not only by Microsoft’s customers and the software industry but also by the European Union’s top antitrust regulator.

The European Commission has repeatedly warned Microsoft that the new operating system could raise competition concerns similar to the ones that sparked the body’s 2004 landmark ruling against the software giant. At the time, the Commission fined Microsoft a record €497m for abusing its dominant market position.
