A need for even more rigour towards banks’ risks and exposures

Sir, If we are to get to grips with the credit crunch, it is particularly important that we come away from this round of bank reports confident that the risks and exposures have been fully laid bare and that no further nasty surprises lurk in the background. It is therefore surely right for auditors to adopt a rigorous approach even if this does produce some awkward results as happened with Bradford & Bingley.
