Behemoths are slow to abandon coal

The unstoppable growth of China and India's populations together with the development of their industries will be crucial for global energy markets over the next few decades.

Both countries' energy mix is dominated by coal, which is cheap and readily available. But, as the wealth of their populations grows, gas demand for residential areas and light industrial development is expected to increase significantly.
