Romanian prosecutor freed from his political leash

Daniel Morar, Romania’s young anti-corruption prosecutor, has surprised even reform advocates in this Balkan country. Appointed late last year, he has launched a wave of criminal investigations that has unnerved the political establishment.

Some observers are calling his efforts the first genuine attempt to hold Romanian politicians to account for widespread abuses of power.
