Court blow to Blair’s nuclear plans

Ministers scrambled to reassure commercial investors on Thursday night that the government would press ahead with plans for a new generation of nuclear power plants, after a surprise court ruling threw Tony Blair’s flagship energy reforms into disarray.

In an embarrassing setback for the prime minister, a High Court judge ordered a rethink of his proposals only weeks before the planned publication of an energy white paper that was expected to clear the way for new plants.
