Art market shrugs off credit crunch

The arts and antiques market is continuing to boom in spite of the credit squeeze as investors look to diversify their portfolios out of traditional asset classes.

Turbulence in mainstream investments such as equities has led to a rise in prices in both art and antiques, according to the first survey of the sector from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors on Tuesday.
