McKinsey, the management consultants, has been appointed to study the competitiveness of London’s financial services industry, amid fears that it may be losing its edge over rivals.
The appointment, part of a review instigated by Boris Johnson, London mayor, last month, is a remarkable turnround from a year ago when no fewer than four studies warned that New York may be bested by London in the battle to attract stock market listings and financial services.
