Collins Stewart hit by end to takeover talks

Shares in Collins Stewart, the stockbroker, fell nearly 15 per cent after it announced it was no longer in takeover talks with an unnamed bidder.

The bid was widely believed to have come from Nomura, the Japanese securities group, which instructed advisers Lazard to look at the broker in December.
