Nicolas Sarkozy is not normally known as a man who holds his tongue. The French president is outspoken, colourful and occasionally openly offensive in his choice of language.

It is scarcely surprising, therefore, that of all Europe’s leaders, he has been the sharpest on the subject of Iran.
