Oil price slips back on Iran gasoline cut

Oil prices remained volatile Tuesday, rising to near a record high before retreating. Lead surged to a record while cocoa rose to a new three-and-a-half-year high.

The Economist Intelligence Unit on Tuesday forecast that commodities prices would rise by an average of 12 per cent in 2007 – the sixth consecutive annual rise. “Demand for most industrial commodities continues to run ahead of supply,” the EIU said.
