In need of zero emissions aircraft

Giovanni Bisignani, director general of the International Air Transport Association (Iata), this year challenged commercial aircraft makers to develop a zero emissions passenger aircraft within 50 years.

The call, an attempt to galvanise the aviation and aerospace industries into action to respond to the growing environmental pressures on air travel, reflects the recognition among airlines that climate change has become a real concern for many air travellers and a political priority for many governments.
