US government: Seeking a place in US energy mix

The natural gas industry thought it would be the first to hear from the Obama Administration once it set about cleaning up carbon emissions.

New technology and expertise allowing the industry to extract natural gas from shale rock have made it an abundant fuel that can be scaled up to power the US transportation fleet, while still providing baseload power that kicks in when the wind does not blow and the sun does not shine.
