Warning over 'back-door' pay

Companies seeking to maintain high levels of executive pay through discretionary awards can expect opposition from investors.

Co-operative Asset Management is today warning companies it will not tolerate "handouts being made through the 'back door'" as a substitute for rewards that management will forgo through having failed to hit performance targets set for incentive payments.
