Asda, the supermarket chain, has launched a price war for the seasonal flu vaccine with plans to offer injections at £8 each, undercutting high street rivals and the price it offered in its own stores last year.
The company portrayed the move as a way to ease pressure on “struggling medical centres” in the National Health Service, which are gearing up for mass vaccinations to protect against the pandemic H1N1 swine flu strain.
