Late payments hit small companies

Late payment to small companies has got progressively worse over the past three years and they need to employ stricter credit management techniques, a survey released today claims.

Siemens Financial Services, a subsidiary of Siemens, the German engineering group, studied the accounts of thousands of UK companies. It found that smaller firms had to wait for 80 days to get paid by customers in 2006, compared with 69 days in 2004.
