UK ‘ecotowns’ shortlist announced

The first new towns to be built in Britain for nearly 50 years were on Thursday given a preliminary green light as Caroline Flint, housing minister, announced 15 potential locations will go forward to the next stage.

Ms Flint claims that the new wave of “ecotowns” could provide up to 100,000 homes to meet Britain’s structural shortage of housing.
