Obama says insurers holding nation hostage

BELGRADE, Montana, August 14 – US President Barack Obama on Friday said the US was “held hostage” by insurance companies that denied coverage to sick people .

The president, on a trip to western states to damp down vociferous opposition to healthcare reform, his domestic priority, targeted insurers for dropping customers who became ill or forcing patients to cover huge costs.
