ABC Learning shares plunge

Shares in ABC Learning Centres, the world’s biggest listed childcare provider, initially fell almost 70 per cent on Tuesday after a drop in earnings surprised investors and ignited fears over its debt.

The bad news was exacerbated by the Brisbane company admitting that some directors took out margin loans to buy ABC shares and could be forced to sell.
