FTSE reshuffle

Energy and mining companies tightened their grip on the FTSE 100, with new entrants including oil services group Petrofac, Drax, the coal-fired power generator headed by Dorothy Thompson , and Ferrexpo, the latest mining entrant controlled by a foreign billionaire. Invensys also made the cut as Alliance & Leicester, Persimmon, Homebase owner Home Retail Group and Tate & Lyle made way for the new arrivals.

The mid-cap FTSE 250 saw new entrants including David Montgomery's Mecom and Domino's Pizza, while Collins Stewart and Redrow were among those relegated to the FTSE Small Cap index.
