Fears over storm season as hurricane hits Florida

A powerful hurricane hit Florida's Gulf of Mexico coastline on Sunday, forcing the evacuation of thousands and prompting concern in the insurance industry that this year's storm season could be especially rough.

Forecasters said Hurricane Dennis, with sustained winds of up to 140mph, was on track to become the most powerful storm to hit the Florida panhandle in the more than 150 years that records have been kept.
