The Premier League is conducting a review into its future, the Financial Times has learnt, which could fundamentally alter the format of the Premiership.
The review, which may re-examine, among other things, the much pilloried plan for playing league games abroad, is being conducted against the backdrop of pressure from the government and international football authorities for changes that would curb the dominance of the “Big Four” clubs – Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal – and limit the amount of foreign talent the Premiership attracts.
