Poll gives Macedonia chance to impress EU

The Republic of Macedonia holds presidential elections on Sunday under the gaze of the European Union, which has warned participants not to repeat last year’s poll violence and ballot stuffing.

The fresh chance to impress international monitors gives the ethnically divided Balkan state “really a last chance not to miss the train again to the EU,” said Erwan Fouere, EU special representative in Skopje.
