Angela Merkel, German chancellor, will become marketing manager for a day when she hosts a dinner with 100 foreign business leaders - and potential investors - at her office on Wednesday night.

The chancellor, who next week will finish her first year in office, will use the occasion to champion "the appeal of Germany as a place to do business", according to officials.
