GM quits US joint venture with Toyota

Upheavals at General Motors have side-swiped its arch rival Toyota. The Detroit carmaker said on Monday that it is pulling out of a jointly-owned assembly plant in California.

GM’s decision throws a shadow over the future of the plant, which at peak production employed 5,500 workers.
