Mexico’s PRI eyes economic reforms after vote win

The leader of Mexico’s opposition Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI, vowed on Monday to work for deep economic reforms after crushing President Felipe Calderon’s conservatives in congressional elections.

The PRI, which ruled Mexico for most of the 20th century, benefited from a steep recession and voter fears of crime to become the main party in the lower house of Congress in Sunday’s vote.
