Indices hold steady as psychological benchmarks near

Wall Street stocks held steady in light trade yesterday following a recent run-up to a number ofpsychologically significant benchmarks.

The leading stock indices have made big gains over the past month, driving the Dow Jones Industrial Average to within touching distance of the 13,000-mark and the S&P 500 index towards its all-time high of 1,527, set nearly seven years ago.
