Spencer rings death knell for exchanges’ heyday

From where Michael Spencer sits – as head of the world’s largest broker of trades in derivatives and securities between banks, Icap – the heyday of stock exchanges is officially over.

Ruling out a play for the London Stock Exchange on Tuesday, Mr Spencer says market participants will one day look back on the last several years of the lives of exchanges and marvel at how good they had it.
