Barclays could drop logo following Dutch objections

Barclays is considering severing a 300-year-old link to its origins in the City of London by dropping the eagle from its corporate logo if the British bank’s takeover of ABN Amro goes ahead.

Even though the combined bank will retain the Barclays name, executives have indicated they will replace the eagle with ABN Amro’s shield when drawing up a new logo for the group.
