Christmas Eve brings no cheer for FTSE

London stocks eased lower on Wednesday as investors wound up positions early on the last trading day of the week, a half-day session ahead of the Christmas break.

Many elected to take profits from trades made on Monday and Tuesday, but overall, with little corporate news or rumour to direct, there was no pattern to trade.
