Asia falls sharply on export fears

Another big fall overnight on Wall Street weighed on Asia-Pacific stocks on Thursday as investors reacted to further evidence that the US economy was deteriorating rapidly.

The mood surrounding Asian exporter and technology stocks worsened following the combination of a revenue warning from bellwether technology group Intel and US retailer Best Buy’s expectation for a “seismic” drop in sales, heightening concerns about demand in Asia’s most important trading partner.
