Washington trade chief Schwab upbeat on bilateral negotiations

Susan Schwab, the top US trade official, says bilateral American trade talks with three big Asian economies are progressing well, playing down apparent signs of stalling.

In an interview on Thursday at the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (Apec) forum in Hanoi, Vietnam, Ms Schwab claimed that the US's bilateral trade deals would boost global trade liberalisation, not distract from it.
