The Financial Times' seasonal appeal on behalf of Camfed International, which supports poor girls' education in rural Africa, has raised more than £1.1m in its first four weeks and has received pledges to match readers' donations up to an additional £200,000.
The total raised stood at £1,136,105 last night, including £375,000 promised at the start of the campaign to match readers' donations. This came from a funding partnership of two groups - the Sofronie Foundation and the Skoll Foundation - and has been fully utilised.
