Carl Bildt, Sweden’s foreign minister, challenged the leaders of Bosnia on Tuesday to “get their act together” and avoid “re-fighting a war of 15 years ago with words” if they want to be granted freedom to travel visa-free around Europe.
The European Commission last week adopted recommendations that the citizens of Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro should be able to travel around most of Europe without visas starting next year. But the offer did not extend to Kosovo, because of security concerns, or to Bosnia-Herzegovina and Albania, due to their failure to move fast enough on adopting biometric passports.
